Prayer Ministry

Praying for the needs of others is one of the most beneficial ministries in which each of us can engage.  It benefits the person prayed for and the person who is praying.  As Orthodox Christians we know that God hears and answers prayers.  As lovers of all mankind it is our duty and joy to pray for others.

So that we might make our needs known in order that others may pray for us and likewise, that we might have a convenient way to determine the needs and intentions of others that we may pray for them, we have developed this web based prayer ministry.

In order to post a prayer request please email Fr. Joseph at stphiliptampa@hotmail.com. He will commemorate that person(s) or need(s) at Liturgy and in daily prayer.  He will also post the prayer request here. Parishioners are encouraged to check this site daily and to include the posted needs in their prayers.  Only first names in requests will be posted.  Thank you for your prayers and for allowing us to pray for you and your loved ones.

PRAYER REQUESTS

REQUESTS WILL BE ON THE LIST FOR ONE YEAR. PLEASE TELL US THE RESULTS OF THESE PRAYERS SO THAT WE MAY GIVE THANKS. ALSO, FOR THE DEPARTED PLEASE INDICATE THAT AND THOSE REQUESTS WILL REMAIN AND WILL BE PRAYED FOR IN PERPETUITY. ALL COMMEMORATIONS ARE BY FIRST NAME ONLY AS IS CUSTOMARY IN ORTHODOXY.

More Information >

The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.

Daily Readings >

Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
